El Salvador was epic and I wouldn’t have had such an amazing time if I didn’t have this guide – we literally did most the things listed. I am so thankful I had access to this guide so helpful!!!

The first travel guide I purchased was for Peru, and I loved it. This one for El Salvador is my second purchase. I always go for economical accommodations, and I didn’t know that cold showers are common for locals until I arrived at my first Airbnb. After shower, I opened the travel guide and looked up better accommodation recommendations.
This trip to El Salvador was a last-minute decision. I downloaded the guide onto my tablet and read it at the airport and on the plane to prepare myself for the adventure. I didn’t get the chance to use the contact provided in the book, but I used the same “trick” Chews did—ordering an Uber first and exchanging contact info with the drivers. I was able to compare prices and save quite a bit!
I used those contacts I got for long-distance rides—e.g., from Santa Ana to San Salvador, and from San Salvador to the airport with stops at Mirador Los Planes and Devil’s Door. My driver was so nice—he knew I wanted to buy fruits and horchata, so he took us to the municipal market in San Marcos. He even brought us to a bakery outside the market to buy pastries and horchata.
I love El Salvador. It is the safest place I’ve ever visited on the entire American continent.
The most beautiful thing in El Salvador wasn’t the scenery—it was the warmth and kindness of its people.
