2. When is the Best Time to Visit Tukad Cepung Waterfall?

Tukad Cepung Waterfall is open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm daily.

But when is the best time of day to visit Tukad Cepung?

To witness Tukad Cepung at its most awe-inspiring, it’s recommended to visit during the morning hours when the sun’s rays are most likely to penetrate the canyon’s opening and create the dazzling light display.

Arriving early also increases your chances of having the glistening waterfall to yourself, as it tends to get busier later in the day.

We arrived at the Tukad Cepung waterfall around 11:00 am. It is best to get down to the waterfall before 11:30 am.

After 11:30 am, the sun rays do not shine through to Tukad Cepung like they do in the earlier morning hours.

If you arrive at Tukad Cepung after 11:30 am, chances are you’ll likely miss out on the incredible light phenomenon that it is known for.

4. How Difficult Is The Hike To Tukad Cepung Waterfall?

Tukad Cepung Waterfall may require some physical effort to reach but don’t worry, the hike is manageable for visitors of all fitness levels.

The trail involves walking on rocky terrain, alongside a small river, and descending a set of steep stairs to reach the waterfall.

Just remember, going down is much easier than going back up!

If you start feeling tired or out of breath, it’s perfectly fine to take a break along the hike.

And don’t forget to stay hydrated and drink water to keep yourself refreshed.

Here’s a little trick I use: when I feel exhausted, I play it off by pulling out my camera and acting like I really need to take a picture of the beautiful surroundings.

Don’t tell my husband that’s why I take so many pictures on these hikes!

(I have a feeling he’s already caught on though.)

6. Do I Need to Hire a Tour Guide for Tukad Cepung Waterfall?

It’s not really necessary to have a tour guide as the journey to Tukad Cepung is relatively straightforward and can be done on your own. (That’s how we did it!)

However, it ultimately depends on personal preference and comfort levels.

The path leading to Tukad Cepung is well-marked and easily accessible, making it a manageable adventure for independent explorers.

With clear directions and signposts along the way, you can navigate the trail without much difficulty.

If you enjoy the freedom of exploring at your own pace, going without a guide can be a great option.

On the other hand, some travelers may prefer the convenience that comes with hiring a tour guide.

A knowledgeable guide can provide valuable insights about the area, share interesting stories, and ensure a smooth experience from start to finish.

Also, some tours include packages to other Bali attractions.

We personally found it much cheaper to stick with our private driver and tour around Bali with him.

7. What To Expect at Tukad Cepung Waterfall

When you make it down the steep steps into the canyon, it’s time to make a decision.

Should you head to the left or to the right?

Take the time to explore both, but I’d recommend going to the left side first.

That’s where the star of the show is.

If you slept in and didn’t get to Tukad Cepung bright and early, you’re bound to be met with crowds.

Tukad Cepung is a very popular place.

Mentally prepare for this, and exercise a bit of patience.

As you venture through the canyon, you’ll find a picture-perfect big round rock.

Once you climb to the top of the big rock, get ready for the perfect moment.

As long as you’re there before 11:30 am, sunlight filters through the crack in the cave’s ceiling.

This creates a mesmerizing display of light glowing over you.

After you’ve experienced this sun bath Instagram-worthy moment, and captured your perfect shot, keep walking in the same direction to find Tukad Cepung waterfall.

Tukad Cepung is a natural marvel that will leave you in awe. Water cascades down from above ever so gracefully.

It is nestled within a canyon, creating a sense of intimacy and tranquility.

Surrounding the waterfall are towering rock formations, adorned with lush greenery.

While Tukad Cepung may not be the most adventurous waterfall to explore in Bali, it is undeniably stunning.

8. What to Bring to Tukad Cepung Waterfall?

To make the most of your visit, pack some essentials for your trip to Tukad Cepung.

Here’s a list of things you should bring with you:

    • Sunscreen (protect your skin from the sun’s rays as you explore the waterfall and its surroundings)
    • Insect repellent (mosquitoes are all around so be sure to apply before, during, and after your hike)
    • Water bottle (hydration is key!)
    • Comfortable hiking outfit (think breathable materials, but also something bright that will pop in your pictures)
    • Swimsuit (wear underneath your outfit in case you decide to get wet, but it’s not like there’s a pool to swim in at the bottom of Tukad Cepung, so not a necessity)
    • Towel (this one is optional - if you decide to get wet, you’ll likely dry off quickly in the Bali heat anyway)
    • Comfortable shoes (it’s a must! You could even bring water shoes with good grip)
